Confiabilidad y evidencias de validez de la Brief Sensation Seeking Scale de 4 ítems en población colombiana.

Introducción. La Brief Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS-4) es el instrumento más empleado para evaluar la Búsqueda de Sensaciones en el mundo. En la revisión bibliográfica realizada no se encuentran investigaciones que den cuenta de sus propiedades psicométricas en población colombiana. Método. El objetivo de este estudio fue estimar las propiedades psicométricas de la SSS-4 en una muestra (n = 800) de adultos colombianos. Resultados. Dentro de los resultados se encontró una adecuada adaptación lingüística mediante la evaluación de la claridad de los ítems. La confiabilidad fue aceptable en los índices de consistencia interna omega de McDonald y alpha de Cronbach (valores ? y ? de .75). Las evidencias de validez de su relación con otros constructos mostraron correlaciones positivas significativas con la Escala de Impulsividad de Barratt (r? = .38, p < .001) y sus dimensiones. En cuanto a su estructura interna, el análisis factorial exploratorio (n = 400) sugiere unidimensionalidad y se confirmó (n = 400) con buenos índices de ajuste, siendo invariante para las variables sexo y ocupación, lo que permitió comparar las puntuaciones de acuerdo con estos criterios. Conclusiones. La SSS-4 es una escala que presenta adecuadas propiedades psicométricas de confiabilidad y validez; sin embargo, se discuten algunas limitaciones y se proponen direcciones futuras.
